Training for Life Westminster Centre for Independent Living (WCIL) is resource for deaf and disabled people, where they can access a variety of services enabling them to gain greater independence. These services include training opportunities and a number of special projects.
We are open five days a week Monday to Friday from 9am - 5pm.
International Day for Disabled People

Come and celebrabrate International Day for Disabled people with us. We are hosting a number of activities on the day for you to try out.

2pm - 'Elegy for the Elswick Envoy' film by Nancy Willis: A documentary introduced by its director, leading disabled artist, Nancy Willis, will be shown at 2pm on the ground floor. ‘Elegy for the Elswick Envoy’ is the story of Nancy's relationship with her 1981 Elswick Envoy, which must be replaced with a new high-powered Motability car. The film tracks Nancy setting off on a journey to find a suitable resting place for her beloved old car.
OptiMusic: This is the magic that allows you to travel on a beam of light to a world of images and sounds. It starts when a beam of light is broken - and ends when the imagination runs dry!
Meanwhile Gardens: An organisation which aims to enhance the lives of residents in North Kensington and North Westminster by providing safe and inclusive open air leisure, play, training and education opportunities in a four acre community park
Social Enterprise: If you have a business idea or are keen on starting your own business Chris Peacock will be available in the Information Service room on the 1st Floor. Two sessions only 11.30am – 12noon and 1.00 - 1.30 pm. At the end of each session there will be 30mins for questions.
Art - Printing on Silk: Drop in on the first floor and try your hand at screen printing and create a piece of art you can take home.
Reflexology and Massages: You will have a 30minute free consultation with Bernadette and the opportunity to try reflexology or have a massage. Morning session from 11am-1.30pm and afternoon session at 3pm.
Sight and Sound Technology supply access solutions : for blind, low vision and dyslexic computer users. We offer a range of products and training that work alongside industry standard hardware and software including screen magnification, screen reading, Braille displays and Braille translation and text to speech programs. The will be 30minute sessions from 11am-1.30pm then drop in times from 2.30-4pm.
Sailing Club: They meet every Wednesday, travel to Surrey Docks Water Sports Centre in Bermondsey, and have a great time on the water. Go and see Dimitri on the ground floor for more information and how to join.
WCIL Information Store: This store will help you with any general questions about who or what is out there in Westminster that can support you to become more independent.
What's on at WCIL
New cafe opening soon for members.
We have refurbished our ground floor kitchen and dining area to transform it into a new cafe with direct access to the centre's large garden.
